Diamonds of Sinai aims to empower marginalized bedouin women and promote community resilience by providing natural, handmade products to satisfy basic living necessities such as food, hygiene, and body care

OUR COMMUNITY
The Bedouin community of Wasit has been in Nuweiba since the 1990s. It is made of families from different tribes, coming from Saint Catherine, North and South Sinai.
After being nomads for generations, they now live as a sedentary people, all the while still keeping their nomadic roots.
After 15 years of development and work in tourism, they are now ready to live a new experience : that of a stringiest, self-sufficient and independant community.

Today, the women of the community share their desire to feel useful and to be responsible for different tasks that will serve the community they are a part of.
Diamonds of Sinai will grant them the opportunity with basic, natural, handmade products, in order to help people reach complete independance and self-sufficiency.

Letting women shine as diamonds in the community and in the Sinai region
The Bedouins have been considered a marginalized people fora long time.
They live on their own and stay away from modern society.
One of the aims of Diamonds of Sinai is to make them known along their culture, their rites and the riches of their skills and knowledge and to give others the opportunity to learn more about the beauty of the Bedouin history.

OUR STORY
Diamonds of Sinai started in 2019 with a project to help bedouin girls and women to serve their community and to feel useful.
As a marginalized people, bedouins have been put aside by the society.
This new leage of girls and women aims to improve self sufficiency of the community by providing basic natural products (food, textile, cosmetics, detergents,...) and improving exchange and trading inside the community.
The goal of Diamonds of Sinaï project is to let people discovering the value and the beauty of bedouin girls and women and to let them bright as diamonds.
In 2022-2023, the program will turn to the creation of a network inside the community. In this way, the families that want to get involved choose their role in this new system of trading : providing herbs, oils, raw materials that they grow in their garden, fabrication of soaps, shampoos, textile sewing, tufting, felting,...
For the next two years, the work of Diamonds of Sinaï will be to install a consolidated trading system, independant as much as possible from international import business.
